Team Development sessions will be offered through the LGA’s Leadership and Workforce teams, using Emergenetics profiling. These sessions can be used by Councillors, SMT’s, or other colleagues within your local authority.
What is Emergenetics?
Emergenetics represents the latest generation of personality profiling tool. It is a new, scientifically valid, informative, and analytically robust tool. Emergenetics accurately identifies the thinking and behavioural preferences that have emerged from a person’s individual combination of life experiences and genetics. This provides accurate, versatile psychometric profiling to drive personal, team and organisational performance.
Over one million Emergenetics profiles have been completed globally in 18 different countries and 45 offices.
The Psychometric profiling can be used to:
- improve job performance and communication
- understand their thinking and behavioural preferences within a work environment
- develop awareness of how personal preferences can be perceived by others
- understand how personal preferences may affect others
- build a collaborative team or workforce
- engage in meaningful dialogue about how individuals approach work activities.
Support Offer: Feedback from Pilots
This year, the LGA conducted five pilot sessions across various local authority teams and feedback from the programme highlighted numerous positive responses.
The workshops were delivered to a range of teams across local government, including councillors, corporate strategy, and human resources teams. Psychometric profiling can be used at a variety of different hierarchical levels, demonstrating the breadth of Emergenetics and its ability to cater to different types of teams. The pilots were delivered using the two main workshops, known as the ‘meetings of the minds’ or the ‘Team Dynamics for small groups’, depending on the size of the team.
The sessions were found to be a very helpful way of building better understanding of individual and collective strengths across the team. Their interactive and inclusive nature led to a good mixture of listening and learning and allowed time for the team to reflect upon their profiles and identify which skills needed to be better developed. Discovering personalised strengths is important in unlocking potential and making staff feel empowered, thus enhancing communication and collaboration across your team.
Feedback further emphasised that the workshops made participants reflect about how they pull together and work with each other. Ultimately, these reflections and conversations can provide a solid foundation for developing the team to work better moving forward.
